📋 Procedure
- ⚠ Refer to safety precautions when working on airbag . — Disconnect battery earth cable with ignition switched on Electrical system27Battery; Connecting and disconnecting battery.
- ⚠ Electrostatic discharges may result in unintentional triggering of airbag. Therefore, the mechanic must electrostatically discharge him/herself before disconnecting the igniter and earth wires. This can be carried out e.g. by briefly touching the body or striker plate of the door. — Lift up locking lever and slide seat forwards.
- On vehicles with seat heating, disconnect electrical connectors (8) and (7) for airbag unit (2) located under seat.
- Remove backrest cover .
- Unscrew two bolts (3) and clear away earth cable (4).
- Carefully pull airbag unit (2) off backrest frame (1) in (direction of arrow).
- Slide locking device (6) on connector (5) in direction of (arrow).
- Disconnect connector (5) from airbag unit (2).
- Connect connector (5) to airbag unit (2).
- Push in locking device (6) on connector (5).
- Fit airbag unit (2) into backrest frame (1).
- Start bolts (3) with earth cable (4) on backrest frame (1) and tighten bolts.
- Install backrest cover .
- On vehicles with seat heating, connect electrical connectors (8) and (7) for airbag unit (2) located under seat.
- ⚠ Battery must be connected with ignition switched on. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag, seat belt tensioners) are repaired incorrectly, undesired triggering may occur after the battery is connected. Ensure that nobody is in vehicle when connecting battery. — Connect battery earth cable with ignition switched on Electrical system27Battery; Connecting and disconnecting battery.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
