Removing and installing seat position sensor: Audi A3

Fits: Audi A3 (8V, 2012–2020); platform code 85

📋 Procedure

1. ⚠ Observe safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components .Before handling airbag units (e.g. unplugging the electrical connector) the mechanic must discharge any static electricity. This can be done by briefly touching the door striker plate, or similar. — Remove front seat .
2. Attach front seat to seat repair standVAS 6136.
3. Remove retainer (rear) for wire routing from seat pan with a screwdriver.
4. Cut through cable retainers (2 and 5) and cable ties (3 and 4).
5. Pull wire for seat position sensor G553/G554 out of protective sleeve (1) and move clear.

6. Remove bolt (1).
7. Unclip and disengage seat position sensor (2) from lower seat pan frame (3)(arrow).
8. Unfasten cable ties/cable clips for wiring from lower seat pan frame.
9. Unplug electrical connector (2) for belt buckle.
10. Detach seat position sensor (1) with wires (3).
11. Unplug electrical connector (3) for belt buckle.
12. Unplug electrical connector for seat occupied sensor, front passenger side G128.
13. Country-specific version: Unplug electrical connector (2) at seat occupied recognition control unit J706.
14. Detach seat position sensor (4) with wires (1).
