Removing and installing seat pan cover and padding (standard seat) — AUDI
Removing and installing seat pan cover and padding (standard seat) on Audi: 8 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
This covers removing the seat pan cover and padding from the standard front seat on the Audi A8 D4 (4H). It is done with the seat on the repair stand VAS 6136, and since the seat carries pyrotechnic components, the static-discharge precautions apply before any connector is touched. The backrest comes off first, the electrical connectors are unplugged and moved clear, and then the cover piping is released with the hook 3370 at the front, sides and rear. The tabs at the seat pan are unhooked on both sides and the cover lifts away with the padding. The two things that matter are discharging yourself before handling the airbag-side connectors and feeding the seat heating harness out with the cover so it is not torn.
🧭 Before you start
With the seat mounted on VAS 6136, remove the backrest and unplug the electrical connectors. Use hook 3370 to free the cover piping at the front and sides, then at the rear, and unhook the tabs on both sides of the seat pan. Lift the cover and padding off together while guiding the seat heating harness out; refit in reverse order.
Fits: Audi A8 D4 (4H, 2010–2017)
Don't miss
- Discharge static electricity, for example by touching the door striker, before handling pyrotechnic component connectors.
- Use hook 3370 on the piping; levering with a screwdriver damages the cover edge.
- Guide the seat heating wiring harness out with the padding, not after it.
- Re-check all connectors are plugged and routed before refitting the backrest.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
