Removing and installing seat cover and padding — AUDI

Removing and installing seat cover and padding on Audi: 18 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Re-covering a seat on the Transporter T5 and T6 platform codes listed below (7H/7J and 7E/7F) is upholstery work with clips and clamping profiles rather than bolts, once the seat is out and the control element bracket is off. The clamping profiles are released from the seat frame on all sides, the cover is folded up through the backrest, the upholstery clips and knee padding clips are removed, and the seat heater connector is unplugged before cover and padding are lifted off the frame. Cover and padding are then separated by removing the clips underneath and from the top of the padding. The cover goes back with new upholstery clips, fitted with pliers V.A.G 1634, and warming the cover helps it stretch into place.

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
