Step-by-step removing and installing seat bench in 2nd row of seats for the Audi Q7: 23 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi Q7 (4L, 2005–2015)
- Special tools named: VAS 6280
- Renewed: bolts
Don't miss
- Before handling airbag units (e.g. unplugging the electrical connector) the mechanic must discharge any static electricity. This can be done by briefly touching the door striker plate, or similar. — Unplug connectors
- Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components . — When fitting the seat, there must not be any offset between the seat rails (same detent position).
- Make sure electrical connectors are fitted correctly (as far as stop) and engage audibly.
- If the airbag warning lamp K75 indicates a fault following installation, you must interrogate, erase and then re-interrogate the event memory .
📋 Procedure
- ⚠ Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components . — Switch on ignition.
- With ignition switched on, disconnect battery earth wire Electrical system27.
- ⚠ Before handling airbag units (e.g. unplugging the electrical connector) the mechanic must discharge any static electricity. This can be done by briefly touching the door striker plate, or similar. — Unplug connectors
- Connect airbag adapterVAS 6235 or VAS 6280.
- Unclip wiring strain relief clamp at connector point on seat.
- Move seat bench towards rear.
- Unscrew bolts (2).
- In the case of a fixed seat bench the seat cushion has to be removed in order to access the rear bolts .
- Remove seat rail cover (4).
- Unscrew bolts (1) (5x).
- Lift seat (3) out of vehicle.
- Make a sturdy support (e.g. a wooden panel) with approx. dimensions 400 mm x 400 mm.
- ⚠ Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components . — When fitting the seat, there must not be any offset between the seat rails (same detent position).
- Clean threads of nuts before fitting new bolts.
- Use new bolts.
- Observe fitting sequence and tightening torque
- ⚠ Before handling airbag units (e.g. unplugging the electrical connector) the mechanic must discharge any static electricity. This can be done by briefly touching the door striker plate, or similar. — Install seat before detaching airbag adapterVAS 6235 or VAS 6280.
- Plug connectors into connector couplings .
- Make sure that airbag connector is properly engaged. [Note: Make sure electrical connectors are fitted correctly (as far as stop) and engage audibly.]
- Clip wiring strain relief clamp into coupling point.
- ⚠ The battery must be connected with the ignition switched on. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag or belt tensioner) are inexpertly repaired, this may result in unwanted triggering after connecting the battery. For safety reasons, when connecting the battery, keep clear of the airbag inflation areas and the belt tensioners/seat belts and make sure there is no-one else in the vehicle. — Switch on ignition.
- With ignition switched on, connect battery earth wire Electrical system27.
- If the airbag warning lamp K75 indicates a fault following installation, you must interrogate, erase and then re-interrogate the event memory .

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
