Removing and installing refrigerant pipe (A) (from screw connection in refrigerant pipe to connection at air conditioner unit) — AUDI
Removing and installing refrigerant pipe (A) (from screw connection in refrigerant pipe to connection at air conditioner unit) on Audi: 15 steps.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi A6 C6 (4F, 2004–2011)
- Opens: refrigerant (A/C)
- Special tools named: VAS 5051
Don't miss
- Following attachment, check the routing of the refrigerant pipes. They must be inserted in the holders provided and not make contact with other components.
- Also heed the notes on start-up of the air conditioner after charging Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a.
📋 Procedure
- Drain the refrigerant circuit Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a.
- Remove the dome brace if necessary (not fitted on all vehicles) Running gear40.
- Remove the air intake unit (not necessary on right-hand drive vehicles) .
- Remove the coolant pipe to the heat exchanger of the air conditioner unit (e.g. on the Audi RS6) Engine, mechanics19. [Note: Depending on the engine, the coolant pipe from the heat exchanger of the air conditioner unit to the engine may also be routed through the socket (D) (e.g. on the Audi RS6). The coolant pipe must therefore be removed on these vehicles.]
- Detach refrigerant pipes from connection to air conditioner unit .
- Open screw connection in refrigerant pipe (between (A) and (B)) (removing and installing restrictor).
- Detach refrigerant pipe (A) from socket (D) and remove refrigerant pipe.
- Moisten the O-rings slightly with refrigerant oil before fitting .
- Fit the refrigerant pipes from the connection to the air conditioner unit .
- Following attachment, check the routing of the refrigerant pipes. They must be inserted in the holders provided and not make contact with other components.
- Re-install the other components removed in reverse order.
- Evacuate the refrigerant circuit after assembly and re-fill Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a.
- Start up the air conditioner after charging the refrigerant circuit . [Note: Also heed the notes on start-up of the air conditioner after charging Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a.]
- Add coolant and bleed the coolant circuit (e.g. on the Audi RS6) Engine, mechanics19.
- Interrogate the fault memory of the operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit J255 and erase any faults displayed "Guided fault-finding" function of vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
