🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi A4 B9 (8W, 2015–)
Don't miss
- The installation position is shown for a "“Low”" air conditioner by way of example.
- Turning the mount (B) of the control motor (C) by hand may damage the electronics in the control motor. — Check the shaft (A) and the mount (B) of the control motor (C). They must be properly aligned for assembly.
- Check the connection between the control motor mount and the shaft. There must not be any play.
📋 Procedure
- Move the front passenger seat to the rearmost position.
- Switch off the ignition.
- Remove the glove box General body repairs, interior 68. Shelves/storage compartments/covers; Removing and installing glove box. [Note: On right-hand drive vehicles, move the driver's seat to the rearmost position and remove the driver side dash panel trim General body repairs, interior 68. Shelves/storage compartments/covers; Removing and installing driver side dash panel trim.]
- Remove the centre console General body repairs, interior 68. Centre console; Removing and installing centre console. [Note: There are different versions of these control motors (with an open shaft (2) or with a closed shaft (4))Distinguishing features of different makes of control motor. On a control motor (1) with an open mount for the shaft (2), the control motor can be pressed off the shaft. Particular care must be taken when detaching a control motor (3) with a closed shaft (4) from the shaft of the connecting element to avoid damaging this.] [Note: The following illustrations show removal and installation for a control motor with an open shaft (2).]
- ⚠ Risk of damaging shafts or connecting elements on removing a control motor with closed shaft (4)On a control motor with closed shaft (4), the connecting element cannot be pressed out of the control motor shaft mount. Take great care when detaching a control motor with closed shaft (4). In particular make sure that the connecting elements do not work loose from their mounts at the heater and air conditioning unit or at the applicable holder. — Mark the connector (C) (to prevent interchange if several connectors are simultaneously unplugged).
- Press aside the glove box holder and screw out the bolts (A).
- Detach the control motor (B) from the flap shaft (D).
- Unplug the connector (C). [Note: The installation position is shown for a "“Low”" air conditioner by way of example.] [Note: The mount of the control motor has no stop. It rotates permanently if the control motor is actuated. A detached control motor should therefore not be actuated.]
- ⚠ Turning the mount (B) of the control motor (C) by hand may damage the electronics in the control motor. — Check the shaft (A) and the mount (B) of the control motor (C). They must be properly aligned for assembly.
- Attach the mount (B) of the control motor to the flap shaft (A). [Note: Check the connection between the control motor mount and the shaft. There must not be any play.]
- Plug in the connector (C).
- Tighten the bolts (A).
- Lay the wiring harness to the connector (C) such that it cannot come into contact with moving components.
- Perform basic setting and final control diagnosis for the air conditioner "“Guided fault-finding”" mode. [Note: The control motors on this vehicle are equipped with electronics. A new control motor only learns its position at the heater and air conditioning unit in the course of basic setting and can then be actuated by the front air conditioner operating and display unit E87 (all control motors are identical at present) "“Guided fault-finding”" mode. During basic setting, the control motors are assigned and adapted in accordance with the series connection of the wiring. If the sequence is not as specified, the matching of the control motors and thus flap control will not be correct Overview of control motors of air conditioner.]
- Interrogate the event memory of E87 and erase any faults displayed "“Guided fault-finding”" mode.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
