Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi A8 D4 (4H, 2010–2017)
- Opens: power steering fluid
- Special tools named: T10172/1
- Renewed: o-ring
Don't miss
- Slacken bolts (arrows) for power steering pump pulley using counterhold tool T10172 with pins T10172/1.
- Place a cloth underneath to catch escaping hydraulic fluid.
📋 Procedure
- Position vehicle on lifting platform (see the separate procedure).
- Extract hydraulic fluid from power steering reservoir with used oil collection and extraction unit VAS 6622A.
- Detach poly V-belt from power steering pump pulley 13Cylinder block (pulley end); Removing and installing poly V-belt.
- Place used oil collection and extraction unit VAS 6622A under connection.
- Release hose clip (arrow) and detach hydraulic hose.
- Seal off open pipes and connections using clean plugs from engine bung set VAS 6122.

- Remove coolant pipe (bottom left) 19Coolant pipes; Removing and installing coolant pipes. [Note: Place a cloth underneath to catch escaping hydraulic fluid.]
- Remove bolts (1) and loosen bolt (2).
- Seal off open pipes and connections using clean plugs from engine bung set VAS 6122.
- Remove bolts (arrows) and detach power steering pump (1) from below (remove hydraulic fluid line from power steering pump).
- Locate pressure line on power steering pump, tighten bolt (2) and then tighten bolts (1). [Note: Renew O-ring. Before fitting a new power steering pump, put in hydraulic fluid at the inlet and rotate pump by hand until fluid comes out at the pressure outlet. Hose connections and suction hose must be free of oil and grease before fitting. Secure all hose connections with new hose clips Electronic parts catalogue. After renewing power steering pump, check alignment of poly V-belt pulleys 13Cylinder block (pulley end); Exploded view - poly V-belt drive.]
- Install poly V-belt 13Cylinder block (pulley end); Removing and installing poly V-belt.
- Bleed steering system (see the separate procedure).
- Check steering system for leaks (see the separate procedure).
- Clean off fluid in engine compartment where necessary.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
