Removing and installing poly V-belt, 4-cylinder diesel engine — AUDI

🧭 Before you start

Fits: platform codes 70A, 7DA

Don't miss

• When fitting used poly V-belts observe the direction of rotation marked on removal!When fitting belt, ensure that poly V-belt seats correctly in pulleys!
• Push alternator down at least 3 times onto stop with tensioning lever3297 to ensure the alternator moves freely.
• When tightening keep to the following sequence, do not use the alternator for support and do not touch poly V-belt.

📋 Procedure

1. Unscrew alternator securing bolts (1) and (2) at least one turn.
2. Lower alternator with tensioning lever3297 and remove poly V-belt from alternator pulley.
3. Removing V-belt for power assisted steering vane pump Running gear, axles, steering from January 199648Repairing power assisted steering . [Note: When fitting used poly V-belts observe the direction of rotation marked on removal!When fitting belt, ensure that poly V-belt seats correctly in pulleys!]
4. Fit poly V-belt to crankshaft pulley, vibration damper and coolant pump pulley.
5. Installing V-belt for power assisted steering vane pump Running gear, axles, steering from January 199648Repairing power assisted steering .

6. Lower alternator with tensioning lever3297 and place poly V-belt on alternator pulley.
7. Push alternator down at least 3 times onto stop with tensioning lever3297 to ensure the alternator moves freely.
8. With alternator still detached, allow engine to run at idling speed for at least 10 seconds.
9. Switch off engine and tighten alternator securing bolts.
10. Tighten threaded connections to specified torque settings . [Note: When tightening keep to the following sequence, do not use the alternator for support and do not touch poly V-belt.] [Note: Before removing, mark the top side and direction of rotation of the poly V-belt. When installing, ensure correct fitting position and direction of rotation. If the belt is installed in the wrong position or against direction of rotation, the belt will be destroyed!]
11. Lift tensioning roller with poly V-belt lever3299 and remove poly V-belt from alternator belt pulley.
12. Removing V-belt for power assisted steering vane pump Running gear, axles, steering from January 199648Repairing power assisted steering .
13. Remove poly V-belt. [Note: When fitting used poly V-belts observe the direction of rotation marked on removal!When fitting belt, ensure that poly V-belt seats correctly in pulleys!]
14. Fit poly V-belt to crankshaft pulley/vibration damper and coolant pump pulley.
15. Lift tensioning roller with poly V-belt lever3299 and fit poly V-belt onto alternator belt pulley.
16. Lower tensioning roller onto poly V-belt with poly V-belt lever3299.
17. Installing V-belt for power assisted steering vane pump Running gear, axles, steering from January 199648Repairing power assisted steering .
18. Start engine and check belt running.
