Removing and installing left centre vent control motor V110 — AUDI

Removing and installing left centre vent control motor V110 on Audi: 19 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.

19 steps

🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi A5 (8T, 2007–2016), Audi Q5 (8R, 2008–2017), Audi A5 Cabriolet (8F), Audi A4 B8 (8K, 2007–2015); platform code 83

  • Special tools named: VAS 5051

Don't miss

  • Mark connector (D) (to prevent interchange if several connectors are unplugged at the same time).
  • The bolts (C) can also be removed using the ratchet wrench T40083.
  • The control motor has no stop; therefore the shaft of the control motor can be inserted in the cam plate (E) in any position.

📋 Procedure

  1. Move driver's seat to rearmost position.
  2. Switch off ignition.
  3. Remove storage compartment beneath dash panel (driver side) General body repairs, interior68Shelves / trim panels; Removing and installing dash panel trim (driver side).
  4. Remove left footwell vent (driver's side) .
  5. Remove accelerator pedal module 20Accelerator mechanism; Removing and installing accelerator pedal module with accelerator position sender G79/G185. [Note: For greater clarity, the following illustrations show the positions of the control motor and the retaining plate for this control motor on the left side of the air conditioning unit with the air duct to the left dash panel vent (A) removed. The air duct to the left dash panel vent (A) is attached with a fastener or a bolt (B) to the dash panel cross member (C). This fastener or bolt can only be removed after taking out the dash panel fascia.]

  1. Carefully detach air duct to left dash panel vent (A) from vent of air conditioning unit.
  2. Mark connector (D) (to prevent interchange if several connectors are unplugged at the same time).
  3. Unplug connector (D).
  4. Remove bolts (C). [Note: The bolts (C) can also be removed using the ratchet wrench T40083.]
  5. Press cam plate (E) towards air conditioning unit and detach shaft (A) (of control motor (B)) from cam plate (E). [Note: The left centre vent control motor V110 activates the connecting rod (F) (and with it the left indirect ventilation flap) via the cam plate (E) and the centre left dash panel vent flap via the lever (G). If the pin of lever (G) is released from the guide slot of the cam plate (E) when the control motor is removed, the dash panel vent flap (left-side) is not actuated. On right-hand drive vehicles, the cam plate (E) is not driven directly via the shaft of the control motor (B). On such vehicles, the cam plate (E) is activated via two additional gear wheels (A) and (C).In model year 2008, modified gear wheels (A) and appropriately adapted brackets (modified collar at gear wheel and corresponding hole) are gradually introduced. Make sure the gear wheel is correctly assigned to the bracket (these components are supplied together as a replacement part) Electronic parts catalogue. The connecting rod (F) actuates the flap in the left centre vent.]
  6. Check that pin of lever (G) and pin of connecting rod (F) are correctly positioned in corresponding guide slots of cam plate (E).
  7. Insert shaft (D) of control motor (B) in cam plate (E). [Note: The control motor has no stop; therefore the shaft of the control motor can be inserted in the cam plate (E) in any position.]
  8. Fit bolts (C).
  9. Plug in connector (D).
  10. Route wiring harness so that it cannot come into contact with moving components (e.g. lever).
  11. Re-install all other components removed in reverse order.
  12. Switch on ignition.
  13. Perform basic setting and final control diagnosis for air conditioner Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 ("Guided Fault Finding"). [Note: The control motors on this vehicle are equipped with an electronic feature which enables a new control motor to learn its position at the air conditioning unit during basic setting; only then can it be activated by the air conditioner operating and display unit (Climatronic control unit J255); currently all control motors are identical Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 ("Guided Fault Finding").While you are performing the basic setting, the control motors are assigned and adapted in accordance with the series connection of the wiring. If the sequence is not as specified, the control motors will not be adapted properly and the flaps will not be controlled correctly (overview of air conditioner control motors).]
  14. Interrogate event memory of air conditioner operating and display unit (Climatronic control unit J255) and erase any faults displayed Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 ("Guided Fault Finding").

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
