Removing and installing
Lambda probe
G39
Special tools and workshop equipment required
Lambda probe open ring spanner set

Wobble drive extension (commercially available)
Removing
Move coolant hose

clear.
Unscrew bolts
arrows
and remove engine cover panel.
Unscrew bolts

and detach retaining bracket

.
Unplug electrical connector

at
charge pressure sender
G31

intake air temperature sender 2
G299
.
Release retainers
arrows
and detach air pipe first from
throttle valve module
J338
and then from turbocharger.
Move clear hoses at air pipe.
Press release ring and detach lines

and
3
.
Remove bolts
1 and 4
and pull crankcase breather hose off timing chain cover.
Release fasteners
arrows
and detach air duct
1
.
Unplug electrical connector
1
on
turbocharger air recirculation valve
N249
and
2
on
charge pressure control solenoid valve
N75
.
Disconnect hose for
charge pressure control solenoid valve
N75
from turbocharger.
Disconnect hose
2
at vacuum unit
3
for turbocharger.
Remove bolts
3 and 4
, detach connection and press to one side with crankcase breather hose connected.

Installing
When installing, note the following:
Note
Threads of new Lambda probes are already coated with assembly paste; the paste must not get into the slots on the probe body.
In the case of a used Lambda probe grease only the thread with high-temperature paste. The paste must not get into the slots on the Lambda probe body. High-temperature paste
Electronic parts catalogue
When installing, the Lambda probe wire must always be reattached at the same locations to prevent it from coming into contact with the exhaust pipe.
