Removing and installing holder for control motor V110 and V299 — AUDI

Removing and installing holder for control motor V110 and V299 on Audi: 21 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Removing the holder for the left centre vent control motor V110 and left side vent control motor V299 on the Audi A8 D4 (4H). The holder is under the dash on the driver side, so the seat goes fully back and the storage compartment, its brackets, the left footwell vent and the accelerator pedal module are removed first. Before switching off, the air distribution is set to the windscreen with the defrost button and left until air comes from the windscreen vents, which parks the flaps in a known position. The control motors are identical, so the defroster motor V107, V299 and V110 must be marked along with their connectors before removal. The holder then unbolts. Correct motor positions and the basic setting afterwards decide whether the climate control works.

21 steps

🧭 Before you start

Set air distribution to the windscreen, switch off and strip the driver's lower dash area including the accelerator pedal module. Mark and remove V107, V299 and V110, unbolt the holder and free the harness. Check the flap linkages, refit the holder and route the harness away from moving parts. Refit the motors and trim, then run basic setting and clear the J255 event memory.

Fits: Audi A8 D4 (4H, 2010–2017)

Don't miss

  • Set air distribution to the windscreen and wait for airflow before switching the ignition off.
  • Mark each control motor and connector; they are identical and swapping them upsets flap control.
  • Check flap actuating arms for proper operation and position before refitting the holder.
  • Route wiring so it cannot touch moving flap components.
  • Run basic setting in Guided Fault Finding and erase J255 faults afterwards.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
