Removing and installing gearbox coolant pump V532 — AUDI

Removing and installing gearbox coolant pump V532 on Audi: 9 steps, engines BUJ, CMPA, CTPA, CTPB. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

On the Audi R8 (42, 2007–2015) with the codes listed, BUJ, CMPA, CTPA, CTPB and CTYA, the gearbox coolant pump V532 sits behind the left rear wheel, which makes this one of the easier jobs on the car. With the wheel off, unplug the pump, release its bracket bolts and clamp both coolant hoses before releasing the clips, so you do not drain the system. The pump comes away on its bracket and is then unbolted from it on the bench. There are only two real points to watch. Use hose clamps rather than letting coolant run, and refit the hoses with the original type of clip. Afterwards check the coolant level and top up as necessary.

9 steps 5 engine codes

🧭 Before you start

Remove the left rear wheel, unplug the pump and remove the bracket bolts. Clamp off both coolant hoses, release the clips and pull the hoses, then detach the pump with its bracket and unbolt it on the bench. Refit, reconnect the hoses with correct clips, refit the wheel and check the coolant level.

Fits: platform code 42

  • Special tools named: 3094

Don't miss

  • Clamp the coolant hoses before releasing the clips to limit coolant loss.
  • Use the original-equipment type of hose clip on refit.
  • Check the coolant level after installation and top up if needed.
  • Check the pump runs and the hose joints are dry with the system warm, as a general precaution.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
