Removing and installing fuel gauge senderG - A5 models up to model year 2011, A4 models up to model year 2012 (vehicles with four-wheel drive) — AUDI
Removing and installing fuel gauge senderG - A5 models up to model year 2011, A4 models up to model year 2012 (vehicles with four-wheel drive) on Audi: 9.
On four-wheel-drive A4 models up to model year 2012 and A5 models up to model year 2011 (platforms 8K, 8T and 8F), the fuel gauge sender G is a clip-on part of the fuel delivery unit rather than a separate in-tank component. That makes this job mostly about the delivery unit: it has to come out of the tank first, and it goes back in last. Once it is on the bench, the sender itself is quick, unplug its connector, cut the cable tie holding the wiring, release two retaining tabs and lift it off. The new sender slides into the guides on the delivery unit and is pressed down until it clicks. Where it goes wrong is in the details: a cable tie left off or fitted elsewhere, or a connector not fully engaged.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the fuel delivery unit from the tank. Unplug the sender connector, cut the cable tie and move the connector clear, then release both retaining tabs and lift the sender off. Push the new sender into the guides until it clicks, plug the connector in fully and refit a cable tie in the original position before installing the delivery unit.
Fits: Audi A5 (8T, 2007–2016), Audi A5 Cabriolet (8F), Audi A4 B8 (8K, 2007–2015)

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
