Removing and installing front section of centre console, kombi — AUDI

Removing and installing front section of centre console, kombi on Audi: 12 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

This is the front section of the centre console on the Caddy III (2K) and the 2C platform code listed below, in kombi form. With the ignition off, the gearstick boot is disconnected; the steering wheel, handbrake lever and gear change boot do not need to come off. The lining mat is lifted and a bolt removed, and the front compartment pulled from its mountings with its wiring disconnected as equipped. The ashtray insert comes out to reach another bolt, and the ashtray is released and unplugged. Two bolts inside the driver's storage compartment, one in the passenger footwell and a further pair are then removed. The decisive moves are unplugging every harness before pulling and putting the gearshift lever fully back so the console clears it.

12 steps

🧭 Before you start

Switch off the ignition and disconnect the gearstick boot. Remove the lining mat and bolt, pull out the front compartment and ashtray, unplugging their wiring as equipped. Take out the bolts in the driver's storage compartment, the passenger footwell and the remaining pair, move the gearshift lever to its rearmost position and release the console from its mountings.

Fits: VW Caddy III (2K, 2004–2015); platform code 2C0

Don't miss

  • Disconnect the wiring harnesses on the front compartment and ashtray before pulling them clear.
  • Move the gearshift lever to its rearmost position before releasing the console.
  • There is a bolt hidden in the front passenger footwell; it is easy to miss.
  • The steering wheel and handbrake lever stay in place for this job.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
