Removing and installing front seat (standard seat): Audi A6 C6

Step-by-step removing and installing front seat (standard seat) for the Audi A6 C6: 16 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Removing and installing the standard front seat on the A6 C6 (4F, 2004–2011). The seat carries airbag components, so the safety rules for airbags apply from the start. Raise the seat, take off the assembly cover and unhook the belt end fitting, then move the seat right back to reach the two front bolts and right forward for the two rear bolts. Only then disconnect the battery earth, discharge static on the door striker, tilt the seat back, unplug the connectors and fit the airbag adapter. The seat is heavy enough to need a second mechanic to lift it out. On refitting, the connectors must engage audibly, the battery goes back on with the ignition switched on and nobody in the car, and any K75 fault is read and erased.

16 steps

🧭 Before you start

Raise the seat, remove the assembly cover and detach the belt end fitting. Move the seat back and forward to remove the front and rear bolts, disconnect the battery earth, tilt the seat back and unplug the connectors, fitting the airbag adapter. Lift the seat out with a helper. Refit, plug in the connectors at the floor coupling, reconnect the battery with the ignition on and check the airbag warning lamp, reading and erasing the event memory if needed.

Fits: Audi A6 C6 (4F, 2004–2011)

Don't miss

  • Discharge static on the door striker plate before touching airbag connectors.
  • Install the seat before detaching the airbag adapter.
  • Connectors must be pushed fully home and engage audibly.
  • Reconnect the battery with ignition on and nobody in the vehicle.
  • If K75 shows a fault, interrogate, erase and re-interrogate the event memory.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
