Removing and installing electric vacuum pump: Audi A1

Step-by-step removing and installing electric vacuum pump for the Audi A1: 14 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

On the Audi A1 2010–2018 (8X) the brake servo can be supported by an electric vacuum pump, the vacuum pump for brakes V192, which is held in clips on a bracket bolted to two pins in the body. The pump comes out together with the bracket: the hose clip is released, the vacuum hose detached, the connector unplugged and the bracket nuts removed, then the pump is unclipped and pulled up out of the bracket on the bench. The points that decide the result are small ones. The vacuum hose is easily damaged and must be renewed if it is, the bracket goes back with new self-locking nuts and a new hose clip, and the pump has to sit properly in the bracket with its vacuum connection facing the direction of travel.

14 steps

🧭 Before you start

Release the hose clip and detach the vacuum hose, unplug the connector and unscrew the bracket nuts, then take out the bracket with the pump. Unfasten both clips and pull V192 upwards out of the bracket. Seat the pump with the connection forward, secure it with the two clips, fit the bracket onto the two pins with new self-locking nuts, fit a new hose clip and plug the connector back in.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
