📋 Procedure

  1. Drain off coolant .
  2. Remove intake manifold (top section) 24.
  3. ⚠ The fuel system operates under high pressure. The pressure in the high-pressure part of the injection system must be reduced to a residual pressure prior to opening the system . A clean cloth must then be wrapped around the connection and the residual pressure dissipated by carefully loosening the connection. — Disconnect crankcase breather hoses (arrows) from cylinder head covers.
  4. Move the crankcase breather hoses clear.
  5. Unscrew bolt (1) and take out hose connection with crankcase breather hoses.

  1. Remove high-pressure pipe by unscrewing bolts and union nuts (1 … 6).
  2. Lay a cloth under coolant pipe to catch escaping coolant.
  3. Detach coolant hose (3) from coolant pipe.
  4. Unscrew bolts (1) and (2) and pull coolant pipe out of cylinder block towards the rear (arrow). [Note: Renew O-ring.Fit all cable ties in the original positions when installing.]
  5. Before installing, clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring.
  6. Lubricate new O-ring with coolant additive and slide onto coolant pipe.
  7. First hand-tighten union nuts (1), (4) and (5) for high-pressure pipes, then hand-tighten pipe mountings (2), (3) and (6).
  8. Ensure that high-pressure pipes are not under tension.
  9. To secure high-pressure pipe (14 mm) to fuel rail, use torque wrenchV.A.G 1331 with ring insert (open-end, 14 mm)V.A.G 1331/8.
  10. To secure high-pressure pipe (17 mm) to fuel rail, use torque wrenchV.A.G 1331 with ring insert (open-end, 17 mm)V.A.G 1331/2.
  11. To secure high-pressure pipe (17 mm) to high-pressure pump, use torque wrenchV.A.G 1331 with ratchetV.A.G 1331/1 and socket, 17 mm T40055.
  12. Install intake manifold (top section) 24.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
