Removing
Remove handle => Page

Turn trim -arrow- through 90°and detach.
Prise out securing spring and press connecting rod off ball end.
Screw out hexagon socket-head bolts -arrows-.
Detach convertible top locks -1-.
Screw out bolts -arrows- on left and right at retaining strip -2-.
Pull fastening strip -arrow- off the three roof bracing hoops -1-.
Screw out bolt -arrow- of retaining strap for convertible top headliner on left and right at convertible top linkage.
If fitted, unfasten adhesive strip -1- on left and right.
Screw out bolt -arrow- for tensioning strap on left and right at convertible top linkage.
Note:
There is no adhesive strip on newer vehicles. Location of bolt for tensioning cable is in mirror-image arrangement to that shown here

Vehicles with electrohydraulic convertible top actuator mechanism:
Use pointed-nose pliers to prise open arrester strap clamp on left and right and pull out through eye.
All models:
Screw out all bolts of retaining strip -1-.
Detach retaining strip.
Pull off convertible top headliner in direction of arrow.
Screw out cross-head bolt on left and right at frame.
Pull off convertible top headliner.
Screw out bolts -arrows- on left and right at shell bracing hoop.
Detach convertible top headliner with retaining strip.
Installing
Note:
Only convertible top headliner of design status 03.95 ▸ is available as replacement. Installing => Page

Starting from centre of vehicle, screw retaining strip of convertible top headliner to shell bracing hoop -arrows-.
Press bolts through headliner fabric at these locations.
Clip convertible top headliner with fastening strips -arrow- onto the three roof bracing hoops -1-.
Screw retaining strap for convertible top headliner to convertible top linkage -arrow-.
Screw convertible top headliner to frame as shown.
Pull backing off double-sided adhesive strip at rear of convertible top headliner.
Bond convertible top headliner smoothly onto frame.
Screw on retaining strip -1-.
Working from inside vehicle, screw in bolt for tensioning strap -1- (arrow).
Starting from centre of vehicle, screw retaining strip -2- of convertible top headliner on left and right to roof frame -arrows-.
Perform further installation in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
