Removing and installing charge pressure sender G31/G447: Audi Q7 (CAJA, CCAA, CGWA, CGWB, …)

Step-by-step removing and installing charge pressure sender G31/G447 for the Audi Q7: 9 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Swapping the charge pressure sender G31 (G447 on some versions) on the Audi Q7 (4L, 2005–2015) with the supercharged petrol engines in the code list below is a top-of-the-engine job, but the fuel side makes it more than a sensor swap. You move the vacuum hose on cylinder bank 2 aside, take off the cover and lift away the upper cover, then free the fuel supply line by loosening its union nut and pushing it to one side. Only then can you unplug the sender and unbolt it from the supercharger housing. Two things decide the result: letting fuel pressure bleed off under a cloth before anything is opened, and keeping every open fuel line plugged until the moment it is refitted.

🧭 Before you start

Access is from above: vacuum hose on bank 2 moved clear, the bolted cover and the lift-off cover removed. The fuel supply line is then released at its union nut after the pressure has been bled off, and the open ends are sealed with clean bungs. With the connector unplugged the sender comes out once its bolts are undone. Refitting means new self-locking bolts and a new O-ring, clean threads in the supercharger housing, then the fuel supply line goes back on.

Fits: Audi Q7 (4L, 2005–2015)

  • Renewed: self-locking bolts

Don't miss

  • Wrap a clean cloth round the fuel connection and loosen it slowly so the residual pressure bleeds off first.
  • Plug every open fuel line and port straight away and leave the plugs in until that line is refitted.
  • Renew the self-locking bolts and the O-ring on the sender; do not reuse either.
  • Run a thread tap through the sender bolt holes in the supercharger housing to clear old locking residue before assembly.
  • After the job, check the fuel union for leaks with the system pressurised before refitting the covers.

📋 Procedure

  1. Move clear vacuum hose (1) on cylinder bank 2 (left-side).
  2. Remove bolts (arrows) and detach cover (2).
  3. Lift off cover (arrow).
  4. ⚠ Risk of injury caused by fuel.To allow the fuel pressure to dissipate, wrap a clean cloth around the connection and carefully loosen the connection before opening the fuel system. — Remove bolts (arrows).
  5. Loosen union nut (2) and push fuel supply line to one side.

  1. Seal off open pipes/lines and connections with clean plugs from engine bung setVAS 6122. [Note: Disregard (item 1).]
  2. Unplug electrical connector (1).
  3. Unscrew bolts (arrows) and detach charge pressure sender G31 or G447. [Note: Renew self-locking bolts and O-ring.Before assembly, always remove residues from threaded holes for charge pressure senders in supercharger housing using a thread tap.Do not remove plugs or protective caps until you are ready to fit the relevant line.]
  4. Install fuel supply line 24.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
