Removing and installing centre footwell trim, Multivan — AUDI

Removing and installing centre footwell trim, Multivan on Audi: 11 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

The centre footwell trim in the Multivan (Transporter T5 and T6 family, 7H/7J/7E/7F) is the last piece of a layered dash: it only comes out after the footwell cover, right dash side cover, bottle holder, both middle knee paddings, drink holder, glove compartment and both dash panel trims have been removed. Once everything around it is off, 12 securing bolts hold the middle trim, and it is pulled out of its mountings. The job is patient rather than hard. What decides whether it goes back tight and quiet is keeping track of every clip and fixing as the surrounding panels come off, and not prising the knee paddings, which hide fixings.

11 steps

🧭 Before you start

Work through the surrounding trim in order: footwell cover, right dash side cover, bottle holder, left and right middle knee padding, drink holder, glove compartment and both dash panel trims. Remove the 12 securing bolts and pull the middle trim from its mountings. Refit in reverse, checking every clip engages.

Fits: VW Transporter T5 (7H), VW Transporter T5 (7J), VW Transporter T6 (7E), VW Transporter T6 (7F)

Don't miss

  • Remove all surrounding trim first; the centre trim cannot come out before.
  • There are 12 securing bolts; count them out and back in.
  • Pull the trim straight out of its mountings rather than levering at the edges.
  • Bag and label clips and fixings from each panel, as is good trim practice.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
