Removing and installing belt end fitting — AUDI

Removing and installing belt end fitting on Audi: 10 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

This job swaps the lower seat belt anchorage, the end fitting that bolts to the floor beside the B-pillar, on the platform codes listed below. Access is the whole effort: the seat comes out, the B-pillar trim comes off and the floor covering is folded back around the anchorage. On cars with a hands-free microphone there is a connector tucked in the same spot, and it travels through the carpet cut-out together with the belt end fitting, so unplug it before pulling anything. Refitting is the reverse, with the anchorage bolt started by hand first. What decides the result is simple: the anchorage bolt fully tightened, and the microphone connector pushed home to its stop until it clicks, otherwise the hands-free system goes quiet.

10 steps

🧭 Before you start

Remove the seat and B-pillar trim, then fold the floor covering back to reach the anchorage. Unplug the microphone connector where fitted, undo the anchorage bolt and lift the end fitting out through the floor covering. On refit, route the connector and fitting back through the cut-out, start the bolt by hand, clip the cable retainer to the body and tighten the bolt.

Fits: platform code 42

Don't miss

  • Unplug the hands-free microphone connector before pulling the belt end fitting through the floor covering.
  • Feed the connector and belt end fitting through the cut-out in the carpet together.
  • Start the anchorage bolt by hand before tightening to avoid cross-threading into the body.
  • Push electrical connectors in as far as the stop and listen for them to engage.
  • Clip the cable retainer back to the body so the wire cannot chafe under the seat.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
