Removing and installing bass loudspeaker trim: Audi A1

Step-by-step removing and installing bass loudspeaker trim for the Audi A1: 8 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Renewing the bass loudspeaker trim in the front door trim on the platform codes listed below. The trim is not a clip-in part from the factory: it is joined to the door trim at several attachment points, so the old one is cut away and the new one is fixed with an installation kit. The door trim comes off the car first, and the two door background lights are removed from it. The old loudspeaker trim is then separated at each attachment point with a flat chisel and lifted out. On the new trim the plastic pegs are shortened to the specified dimension, the trim is set into the door trim, and clamping washers and spring clips from the kit are pressed on to hold it. Patience with the chisel is what keeps the door trim undamaged.

8 steps

🧭 Before you start

Remove the front door trim and take out both door background lights. Separate the old loudspeaker trim from the door trim at each attachment point with a flat chisel. Shorten the pegs on the new trim to dimension, insert it, then press on the clamping washers and spring clips from the installation kit.

Fits: Audi A1 (8X, 2010–2018)

Don't miss

  • Work the chisel carefully at each attachment point; the door trim itself is easily damaged.
  • Shorten the marked plastic pegs on the new trim to dimension (a) before fitting.
  • Use the clamping washers and spring clips from the installation kit to secure the new trim.
  • Refit both door background lights before the trim goes back on the door.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
