Removing and installing actuator for fresh air/air recirculation, air flow flap — AUDI
Removing and installing actuator for fresh air/air recirculation, air flow flap on Audi: 15 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: platform code FV
Don't miss
- Check operation of flaps and hinge mechanism before installing.Make sure levers and shafts are seated correctly in actuator sockets.
- If the actuator socket and actuating arm are not opposite one another, the socket in the control motor must be turned. Observe notes .
- The control motor is not positioned correctly on the housing if the bolts cannot be fitted.
- Turn control motor until it reaches a convenient position for installation. The direction of rotation can be reversed by interchanging positive and negative.
- When fitting actuator, actuating lever (3) must engage in air flow flap lever (2).
📋 Procedure
- Switch off ignition.
- Equipment version with ignition lock: Remove ignition key.
- Remove fresh air/air recirculation, air flow flap control motor .
- Move wiring harness (5) clear.
- Carefully press actuating lever (1) off fresh air/air recirculation flap lever (8)(arrow).
- Remove bolts (4 and 7).
- Detach actuator (6). [Note: Check operation of flaps and hinge mechanism before installing.Make sure levers and shafts are seated correctly in actuator sockets.]
- The actuator socket in the control motor can only be fitted onto the actuating arm (2) in one position. [Note: If the actuator socket and actuating arm are not opposite one another, the socket in the control motor must be turned. Observe notes .]
- Position control motor on air distribution housing. The actuating arm must engage (arrow) in actuator socket (1). [Note: The control motor is not positioned correctly on the housing if the bolts cannot be fitted.]
- Route electrical wiring harness so that it cannot come into contact with moving components (e.g. control motor lever).
- To check operation of control motor, connect an adapter cable , or use a test lead from adapter setV.A.G 1594C to connect contacts "“5”" and "“6”" of control motor to a 12 V battery via a 5 A fuse. [Note: Turn control motor until it reaches a convenient position for installation. The direction of rotation can be reversed by interchanging positive and negative.]
- When fitting actuator, actuating lever (3) must engage in air flow flap lever (2).
- Install remaining components.
- Interrogate event memory and erase any entries displayed; then perform "“Basic setting”" ("“Guided Fault Finding”").
- As a final step, check operation of heater/air conditioner.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
