Removing and installing A-pillar trim (bottom): Audi A6 C6

Step-by-step removing and installing A-pillar trim (bottom) for the Audi A6 C6: 30 steps, 1 torque figure.

The lower A-pillar trim is buried behind several other parts on the vehicles covered by the platform codes listed below, so most of this job is getting things out of its way. The dash panel end trim, a connecting piece and the bonnet release lever come off first, then a bolt and the bolts holding the warning triangle or signal flare holder, followed by the upper and lower B-pillar trims. Only then is the A-pillar trim unclipped from the rear and slid back out of the footrest cover. The parts that cause trouble are the three clips, which must be undamaged and in position before refitting, and the bonnet release lever, which has its own clip and must be checked with the cable before the bonnet is shut.

🧭 Before you start

Strip the surrounding trims and the bonnet release lever, unclip the A-pillar trim from the rear and draw it out of the footrest cover. Refit with good clips correctly placed, rebuild in reverse, fold the door seal lip back over the trim and test the bonnet release.

Fits: Audi A6 C6 (4F, 2004–2011)

Don't miss

  • Inspect the three clips; replace any that are bent or broken.
  • Locate the clips on the trim before pushing it home.
  • Fold the door seal lip back over the trim after fitting.
  • Release lever clip must be pushed fully into the lever and the lever must engage on its mount.
  • Check bonnet lever and cable work before closing the bonnet.
  • The small bolts are recorded at 2.5 Nm.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
