Replacing steel spring and screw for selector shaft

Valve body installed

Unscrew screw of steel spring -arrow-.
Detach steel spring with operating rod and lever from the selector shaft in the gearbox.
Detach the operating rod at the manual selector valve.

Notes:

Ensure that the manual selector valve does not fall out of the valve body.
The screw with steel spring must be renewed every time after being dismantled.

Move shift segment/selector shaft to position "1".
Slightly pull manual selector valve out of the valve body.

Turn manual selector valve -1- so that the shoulder -arrow- is to operating rod -2-.
Attach operating rod with lever in manual selector valve as shown.

Insert operating rod -1- from below into the collar -arrow- of the lever -2- at the selector shaft.

Attach new steel spring -2- with new screw -1- over the end of the operating rod -3- -arrow A- and push over the operating rod with the retaining lug at the bottom -arrow B-. Centre the steel spring at the collar at the top of the lever -arrow A-.
Pivot steel spring over the lever to the stop.
Screw in screw further until it is flush with the bottom edge of the lever.

Note:

Move selector shaft to position "P".
Push operating rod -4- with manual selector valve -5- into the valve body -3- as far as the stop -direction of arrow- and tighten bolt -2- for lever to 4 Nm.

Notes:

The manual selector valve must rest against the stop in the valve body when adjusting. Counterhold in direction of arrow when tightening bolt.
Do not press on the small limiting lever of the steel spring as this will interfere with the adjustment.
To test: When selector lever is in position "1", manual selector valve must be flush with outside of valve body.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
