Installing replacement wiring harness: Audi Q7
Step-by-step installing replacement wiring harness for the Audi Q7: 35 steps, 3 torque figures. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi Q7 (4L, 2005–2015)
🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 4 Nm (3.0 lb-ft) | Fit the two bolts (2) and (3 |
| 4 Nm (3.0 lb-ft) | Remove bolts (2) and (3 |
| 9 Nm (6.6 lb-ft) | Tighten earth cable 2 |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- Start with rear lid.
- Fit hose connection (1) to connection on rear window wiper.
- Clip in cable retainers (arrows) accordingly.

- Continue to route wiring harness to D-pillar and C-pillar (arrows).
- At D-pillar, the wiring harness is split into two sections (1) and (4).
- Remove bolts (2) and (3) (4 Nm) on curtain airbag and guide wiring harness section (4) along the existing wiring harness between curtain airbag and D-pillar. — 4 Nm (3.0 lb-ft)
- Use cable ties as required.
- Fit the two bolts (2) and (3) (4 Nm) again. — 4 Nm (3.0 lb-ft)
- Route wiring harness (1) along existing wiring harness at side window (right-side) (arrows).
- Use cable ties.
- Tighten earth cable 2 (9 Nm). — 9 Nm (6.6 lb-ft)
- Route aerial wire to TV tuner R78.
- Unplug brown connector (2) on TV tuner R78(1) and connect new brown connector (3).
- Cut off detached brown connector (2) from aerial wire and tie up wire to existing harness.
- Route wiring harness (1) along top of side window (right-side) up to C-pillar (arrows).
- Use cable ties.
- Tighten earth cable (2) (9 Nm). — 9 Nm (6.6 lb-ft)
- Unplug aerial connectors (1) (brown) and (2) (blue) at aerial amplifier R24 and cut off at the existing wiring harness (arrow).
- Fit brown and blue aerial connectors of new wiring harness on aerial amplifier R24.
- Then route washer fluid pipe.
- Remove the digital sound package control unit J525.
- Route washer fluid pipe (2) on existing wiring harness (1) behind digital sound package control unit J525(arrow) up to wheel housing.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
