Installing gearbox - vehicles with 4-cylinder TFSI engine — AUDI

Installing gearbox - vehicles with 4-cylinder TFSI engine on Audi: 45 steps, 2 torque figures. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what to.

Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.

45 steps 2 torque figures

🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi A6/A7 C7 (4G, 2011–2018); platform code 4X

  • Opens: gearbox oil
  • Renewed: needle bearing in drive plate

Don't miss

  • There is only one inspection hole at the periphery; turn the clutch module accordingly.
  • The following step is essential to ensure that the clutch module makes even and proper contact on the drive plate and does not cant.
  • Items marked (2) and (3) can be disregarded.

🔩 Torque settings

Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.

ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

📋 Procedure

  1. Position gearbox on gearbox support T40173 and secure with tensioning strap (1), as shown in illustration.
  2. Check input shaft for scoring around bearing in drive plate (arrow). Renew needle bearing in drive plate if necessary 13Cylinder block (gearbox end); Renewing needle bearing in drive plate.
  3. Check that dowel sleeves (A) for centralising engine/gearbox are in the cylinder block; install any missing dowel sleeves.
  4. Install clutch module if previously removed Servicing 6-speed manual gearbox 0B1, front-wheel drive30Removing and installing clutch module.
  5. The following preparations must be made before joining the engine and gearbox:

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
