📋 Procedure

Leak test

When there is no electrical signal, the solenoid valve remains closed.

Disconnect the hoses from the solenoid valve for the activated carbon canister (N80).
Attach the connector to the solenoid valve.
Start the final control diagnosis and select the solenoid valve for the activated carbon canister (N80)
=>Page
01-46
.
During the final control diagnosis, blow into solenoid valve to check whether it opens and closes properly. If necessary, fit a new solenoid valve.

Electrical check on the -N80 solenoid valve

Unplug the connector on the ACF valve.
Measure the resistance between the contacts on the valve using the V.A.G 1526 hand held multimeter.

Specified value: 22...30 ω.

If the specified value is not achieved:

Replace the -N80 solenoid valve for the activated carbon canister.

Checking the power supply to the ACF valve

Note:

The ACF valve receives its power supply via the fuel pump relay.

Test conditions

Fuse for ACF valve OK

Unplug the connector on the ACF valve.
Connect the V.A.G 1527 diode test lamp between contact 1 on the connector and the engine earth.
Actuate the starter.

The diode test lamp should light up.

If the diode test lamp does not light up:

Check the wiring from contact 1 via the fuse to the fuel pump relay for continuity, repair if necessary.

If the wiring is OK, check the fuel pump relay => Page

.

Check the actuation of the ACF valve

Connect the V.A.G 1527 diode test lamp between contact 2 and contact 1 (positive) in the connector.
Start the final control diagnosis and select the solenoid valve for the activated carbon canister (N80)
=>Page

.

The diode test lamp should start flashing.

If the diode test lamp does not flash or is continuously lit:

Connect the V.A.G 1598/22 test box to the wiring harness for the engine control unit
=>Page
24-8
.

If the diode test lamp is continuously lit:

Test for the line from contact 2 on the ACF valve connector and socket 15 on the test box for a short to earth.

If the diode test lamp does not flash:

Test the line from contact 2 on the ACF valve connector to contact 15 on the test box for continuity and for a short to positive.
If necessary, rectify a short circuit to earth or open circuit.
If no short circuit or open circuit is found, replace the engine control unit

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
