  • If the measured values for the temperature of the air emerging from the vents are less than the measured value of the G263, this indicates that the temperature sensor is faulty.

📋 Procedure

  1. Close bonnet, doors, windows and sunroof.
  2. Open all dash panel vents.
  3. Start the engine and make the following settings on the operating units: [Note: This illustration shows the position of rotary controls (1, 2, 3) and buttons (4, 5) on a vehicle with left-hand drive and a manually controlled air conditioner. On vehicles with right-hand drive, the position may be different. An operating and display unit E776(2) without A/C button is installed in vehicles without an air conditioner (heater only) Electronic parts catalogue.Operating and display units (1) and (3) should actually be called "“heaters”". The heaters have retained the name "“air conditioner”" because heaters without an air conditioner are only available in certain markets.]
  4. Start the engine and make the following settings on the operating and display units for the heater:
  5. With the engine running, operate the heater at this setting for several minutes.

  1. Measure the ambient temperature.
  2. Use a thermometer to measure temperature of air emerging from dash panel vents (left and right).
  3. Compare measured values to measured value displayed for evaporator output temperature sender G263 ("“Guided Fault Finding”" for the Climatronic control unit J255). [Note: If the measured values for the temperature of the air emerging from the vents are less than the measured value of the G263, this indicates that the temperature sensor is faulty.]
  4. Set the highest possible temperature.
  5. Use a thermometer to measure temperature of air emerging from dash panel vents (left and right). [Note: On vehicles with no V51, set the engine speed to roughly 2000 rpm and repeat the test if necessary. If the temperature of the air increases to over 55 °C when the test is repeated with a higher engine speed, this indicates that not enough coolant is flowing through the heat exchanger for the heater. Cause: Delivery rate of engine coolant pump too low with engine idling or heat exchanger not incorporated into coolant circuit as specified Engine, mechanics19Cooling system/coolant; Connection diagram - coolant hoses. The required heating output is not attained if insufficient heated coolant flows through the heat exchanger for the heater.]
  6. Set the lowest possible temperature.
  7. Use a thermometer to measure temperature of air emerging from dash panel vents (left and right).

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
