  1. When doing this, observe the activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1N80(2) is closed when not supplied with current.
  2. Ignition off and release and separate connector on activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1N80(2).
  3. Check line leading to activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1N80 for leaks and damage. If no fault is detected, the solenoid valve N80 is leaking. Renew solenoid valve N80.
  4. Unclip breather line (3) from retainer (2).
  5. Release breather line (3) on push-fit coupling and pull off. Separate plug-in connectors .
  6. Using adapterVAS 6550/3-2, connect hand vacuum pumpVAS 6213 to line leading to activated charcoal filter.
  7. Remove front left underbody cladding (arrow).
  8. Pull off breather line (3) from activated charcoal filter (1).
  9. Seal connections (B and C) using suitable plugs from engine bung setVAS 6122.
  10. Move slide ring (1) on hand vacuum pumpVAS 6213 to position (A) for "“vacuum”".
  11. Operate hand vacuum pumpVAS 6213 several times. Vacuum must not build up.
  12. Activated charcoal filter and breather line are not leaking.
  13. Disconnect breather lines (3 and 4) from activated charcoal filter (1).
  14. Seal breather connection (B and C) using suitable plugs from engine bung setVAS 6122.
  15. Connect hand vacuum pumpVAS 6213 to connection (A) of activated charcoal filter (1) using commercially available hose.
  16. Operate hand vacuum pumpVAS 6213 several times.
  17. Activated charcoal filter is leak-tight.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
