🧭 Before you start

Fits: VW Caddy III (2K, 2004–2015)

  • Renewed: fuel pressure regulator

Don't miss

  • Press in securing ring to release fuel line.
  • Now check for leaks and holding pressure (entire system). Do this by observing pressure drop on gauge. After 10 minutes, there must be a residual pressure of at least 3.0 bar.
  • Before removing pressure tester, place a cloth around the connections to be loosened.

📋 Procedure

  1. ⚠ Fuel system is under pressure! Wear eye protection and protective clothing to avoid possible injury and skin contact. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection. — Separate fuel supply line connection (arrow) on fuel filter and catch escaping fuel with a cloth. [Note: Press in securing ring to release fuel line.]
  2. Connect pressure testerV.A.G 1318 with adapterV.A.G 1318/9 and adapter setV.A.G 1318/17 to fuel filter (1) and supply line (2).
  3. Open shut-off tap of pressure tester. The handle points in direction of flow.
  4. Bleed fuel system.
  5. Start engine and run at idling speed.

  1. Measure fuel pressure. Specification: approx. 4.0 bar.
  2. Switch off ignition.
  3. Check delivery rate of fuel pump.
  4. If fuel pump is OK., renew fuel pressure regulator.
  5. Switch off ignition.
  6. Now check for leaks and holding pressure (entire system). Do this by observing pressure drop on gauge. After 10 minutes, there must be a residual pressure of at least 3.0 bar.
  7. Start engine and run at idling speed.
  8. Switch ignition off after the pressure has built up. At the same time, close shut-off tap of pressure tester (handle perpendicular to direction of flow) (arrow).
  9. Watch engine-side pressure drop on pressure gauge.
  10. Check line connections, O-rings on fuel rail and injectors for leaks.
  11. Check pressure tester for leaks. [Note: Before removing pressure tester, place a cloth around the connections to be loosened.]
  12. Check line connections to fuel tank and non-return valve of fuel pump.
  13. If non-return valve is OK., renew fuel pressure regulator.
  14. Bleed fuel system.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
