Checking fuel pressure regulating valve N276 — AUDI

Checking fuel pressure regulating valve N276 on Audi: 19 steps, engines AKF, ASB, AUH, BCQ. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Checking the fuel pressure regulating valve N276 on the A5 (8T, 2007–2016), A5 Cabriolet (8F) and A4 B8 (8K, 2007–2015) with the engine codes listed below. The test measures how much fuel the valve returns at idle. Remove the engine cover and follow the cleanliness rules for fuel work strictly. At the banjo bolt, the return lines are detached and the open line and connection plugged, a hose is put on the banjo connection and held in a measuring container, and the injector return is led into a separate container and ignored. With fuel above 10 °C, start the engine and measure the return from the banjo hose. If the flow is out of specification, N276 is renewed. The layout differs between versions with two or three return lines, so plug the right connections.

🧭 Before you start

Remove the engine cover and observe cleanliness rules for fuel work. Detach the return lines at the banjo bolt, plug the open line and connections, fit a hose to the banjo connection into a measuring container and route the other return into a separate container. With fuel temperature above 10 °C, run the engine at idle and measure the return flow. Renew N276 if it is out of specification.

Fits: Audi A5 (8T, 2007–2016), Audi A5 Cabriolet (8F), Audi A4 B8 (8K, 2007–2015)

Don't miss

  • Observe the cleanliness rules for fuel system work before and during the test.
  • Fuel temperature must be above 10 °C for a valid reading.
  • Ignore the injector return; measure only the banjo bolt hose.
  • Versions with three return lines need extra plugs on the banjo bolt.
  • General practice: renew banjo sealing washers whenever the banjo bolt is disturbed.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
