Checking fuel pressure (low pressure): Audi A3 2.0 TDI (CFFA, CFFB, CFGB, CGLA, …)
Step-by-step checking fuel pressure (low pressure) for the Audi A3 2.0 TDI: 12 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
A low-pressure check is where any fuel complaint on a direct-injection diesel should start, because a tired in-tank pump starves the high-pressure pump long before codes point at it. This one is for the Audi A3 8P (2003–2012) with the common-rail engines from CFFA to CMGB. The engine cover comes off, the supply line is released from the high-pressure pump and the pressure tester is teed into the feed with an adapter and second hose. With ignition on, the fuel system pressurisation pump is run from basic settings in engine self-diagnosis until pressure peaks, then delivery rate is checked. What makes the difference is cleanliness at the open fuel connection and letting the pressure off under a cloth before you disconnect.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the engine cover, wrap a cloth round the feed connection and release the supply line from the high-pressure pump. Connect the pressure tester between the supply line and the pump inlet using the adapter. Switch on, select engine electronics, basic setting and the fuel pump check, and run the pump until maximum pressure builds. Then check delivery rate and look over the system for leaks before reconnecting.
Fits: Audi A3 (8P, 2003–2012)
Don't miss
- Release pressure by wrapping a clean cloth round the connection before opening it.
- Keep the open high-pressure pump inlet clean; dirt there goes straight into the injection system.
- Tee the tester into the supply line so the pump still feeds the engine side.
- Check the whole fuel system for leaks once the test is finished.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
