=> Motronic Injection and Ignition System (4-cyl., 5-valve); Repair Group 01; Final control diagnosis
Motronic Injection and Ignition System (4-cyl., 5-valve)
Final control diagnosis
If valve does not click in final control diagnosis:
Checking internal resistance
Switch off ignition.
Remove engine covers -arrows-.
Unplug connector from solenoid valve.
Connect multimeter to valve for resistance measurement.
Specification: 10 ... 18 ω
If readout does not match specification:
Replace valve.
Checking power supply
Unplug connector from solenoid valve.
Connect voltage tester V.A.G 1527 B as follows.
Connector / Contact · Measure to
1 · Engine earth
Briefly operate starter.
LED must light up
If LED does not light up:
Perform the following checks marked with a dot.
Check fuse for camshaft adjustment valve:
=> "Current Flow Diagrams, Electrical Fault-finding and Fitting Locations" binder
Check wiring from contact 1 of connector via camshaft adjustment valve fuse to fuel pump relay for open circuit:
=> "Current Flow Diagrams, Electrical Fault-finding and Fitting Locations" binder
Repair open circuit in wiring as necessary.
If no fault is found:
Check fuel pump relay:
=> Motronic Injection and Ignition System (4-cyl., 5-valve); Repair Group 24; Servicing Motronic Injection System ; Checking fuel pump relay and actuation
Motronic Injection and Ignition System (4-cyl., 5-valve)
Servicing Motronic Injection System
Checking fuel pump relay and actuation
Checking actuation
Connect voltage tester V.A.G 1527 B to contacts 1 (positive) and 2 of connector.
Start final control diagnosis and actuate the camshaft adjustment valves:
=> Motronic Injection and Ignition System (4-cyl., 5-valve); Repair Group 01; Final control diagnosis
Motronic Injection and Ignition System (4-cyl., 5-valve)
Final control diagnosis
LED must flash
If LED does not flash or if it is permanently lit:
Connect test box V.A.G 1598/31 to engine control unit wiring harness. Engine control unit must not be connected:
=> Motronic Injection and Ignition System (4-cyl., 5-valve); Repair Group 24; Servicing Motronic Injection System ; Wiring and component check with test box V.A.G 1598/22
Motronic Injection and Ignition System (4-cyl., 5-valve)
Servicing Motronic Injection System
Wiring and component check with test box V.A.G 1598/22
Check for open circuit and short to earth/positive in the following wiring.
Connector / Contact · Test box V.A.G 1598/22 / Socket
2 · 55
Repair short to earth/open circuit in wiring as necessary.
If wiring is OK:
Replace engine control unit:
=> Motronic Injection and Ignition System (4-cyl., 5-valve); Repair Group 24; Servicing Motronic Injection System ; Replacing engine control unit
Motronic Injection and Ignition System (4-cyl., 5-valve)

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
