Bleeding hydraulic system without brake filling and bleeding equipment — AUDI

Bleeding hydraulic system without brake filling and bleeding equipment on Audi: 18 steps, 1 torque figure.

Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.

18 steps 1 torque figure torque figures merged from 6 documented variants

🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi A1 (8X, 2010–2018)

  • Opens: brake fluid

Don't miss

  • Make sure brake fluid reservoir is always full.
  • Use suitable bleeder hose. It must sit tightly on the bleeder screw so that no air can enter the brake system.
  • Press brake pedal slowly to avoid formation of bubbles.
  • Fill up brake fluid reservoir to "“MAX”" mark.
  • To prevent brake fluid from overflowing from the reservoir, the brake fluid level must not be above the "“MAX”" mark (1).

🔩 Torque settings

Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.

ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

📋 Procedure

  1. Fill up brake fluid reservoir to "“MAX”" mark (1). [Note: Make sure brake fluid reservoir is always full.]
  2. Detach protective cap (1) on bleeder screw at front left and front right brake calipers.
  3. Detach protective cap (1) on bleeder screw at rear left and rear right brake calipers. [Note: Use suitable bleeder hose. It must sit tightly on the bleeder screw so that no air can enter the brake system.]
  4. Fit bleeder hose of reservoir onto bleeder screw.
  5. Build up pressure in brake system by pumping brake pedal. [Note: Press brake pedal slowly to avoid formation of bubbles.]

  1. Once pressure has built up, keep brake pedal depressed.
  2. Open bleeder screw with hose of reservoir attached until pressure has dissipated (pedal sags).
  3. Keep pedal depressed and close bleeder screw.
  4. Release brake pedal and wait approx. 2 seconds to allow brake fluid to flow in from brake fluid reservoir.
  5. Repeat procedure until emerging brake fluid is clear and free from bubbles.
  6. Tighten bleeder screw and disconnect bleeder hose.
  7. Repeat bleeding procedure in stated sequence at other brake calipers.
  8. Fit protective cap (1) at front left and right.
  9. Fit protective cap (1) at rear left and right.
  10. Fill up brake fluid reservoir to "“MAX”" mark.
  11. Fill brake fluid reservoir up to max. marking (depending on degree of pad wear) and screw on filler cap. [Note: To prevent brake fluid from overflowing from the reservoir, the brake fluid level must not be above the "“MAX”" mark (1).]
  12. Start engine and check brake pedal travel and brake pedal pressure.
  13. In the event of excessive pedal travel, check brake system for leaks and/or repeat bleeding procedure.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
