📋 Procedure
Special tools and workshop equipment required
Ignition tester V.A.G 1367
Test requirements:
Engine oil temperature at least 60 °C
Hand throttle turned all the way back.
Electrical consumers switched off (radiator fan must not run during the test).
Test sequence
Connect ignition tester V.A.G 1367:
=> Operating Instructions
Note:
The TDC sender of ignition tester V.A.G 1367 must be inserted into the gearbox housing as far as the stop.
Checking and adjusting idling speed
Start engine and run at idling speed.
Read the idling speed on V.A.G 1367.
Specified value: 850 ± 50 rpm
If specification not attained or exceeded:
Loosen lock nut on idling speed adjuster screw -arrow-.
Adjust idling speed and secure idling speed adjuster screw again with lock nut.
Checking and adjusting idling speed increase
Note:
Adjust the idling speed increase only in case of customer complaints.
The idling speed increase raises the idling speed to 900 ± 50 rpm after a cold start by means of the electrically-heated idling speed increase actuator -N123.
After 2 minutes of engine run time, at the latest, the idling speed must drop by 50 rpm.
Test requirements:

Adjusting
Start engine and run at idling speed.
Detach the connector for the idling speed increase actuator -1-.
Spray cold spray on the idling speed increase actuator.
The idling speed must increase.
Specified value: 900 ± 50 rpm
If the idling speed does not change:
Release the lock nut -2- on the bracket.
Turn the idling speed increase actuator until 900 rpm is reached and secure it again with the lock nut.
Plug in the connector.
After 2 minutes of engine run time, at the latest, the idling speed must drop by 50 rpm.
If the idling speed does not change:
Replace the idling speed increase actuator.
Adjusting cutoff speed (no load applied).
Loosen lock nut on cutoff speed adjuster screw -arrow-.
Start the engine.
Move the adjustment lever to the wide open throttle position.
Adjust the cutoff speed and re-secure the speed adjuster screw using the lock nut.
Specified value: 4800 ± 100 rpm

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
