🧭 Before you start
Fits: VW Polo 6R (2009–2014)
- Opens: power steering fluid
- Special tools named: V.A.G 1416
Don't miss
- Ensure oil seal is seated correctly.
- Use a rubber head hammer to tap evenly all around the reservoir (1) when doing this, never hit the unions with the hammer.
- Ensure the reservoir is not canted.
- Mark an area of approx 15 x 30 mm with a permanent coloured mark (2) e.g. anti-tamper paint at the position as illustrated.
📋 Procedure
- Remove motor/pump unit .
- Seal threaded union for pressure line on motor/pump unit
- Remove bracket from motor/pump unit.
- Open clamp (1) and remove upwards.
- ⚠ Wear protective gloves when heating and pulling off the reservoir. — Heat all around lower area of reservoir (2) evenly using a hot air blower e.g. V.A.G 1416.
- ⚠ The reservoir may only be heated to a maximum of 80 °C. — Pull reservoir (2) off motor/pump unit (3). [Note: Ensure contact surfaces for seal and reservoir on motor/pump unit are clean and free of oil and grease. No slip agent or lubricant may be used when fitting the reservoir on the motor/pump unit. The contact surfaces of the reservoir and motor/pump unit must not come into contact with sealants.]
- Place a new oil seal into the sealing surface of the motor/pump unit Electronic Parts Catalogue.
- Ensure oil seal is seated correctly.
- ⚠ Wear protective gloves when heating and fitting the reservoir. — Heat all around lower area of new reservoir evenly using a hot air blower e.g. V.A.G 1416.
- ⚠ The reservoir may only be heated to a maximum of 80 °C. — Fit reservoir (1) onto motor/pump unit (2).
- Position reservoir so that the union for the return line (arrow A) is vertically over the union for the pressure line (arrow B).
- Pull reservoir (1) onto motor/pump unit (2) to limit stop.
- Use a rubber head hammer to tap evenly all around the reservoir (1) when doing this, never hit the unions with the hammer.
- Ensure the reservoir is not canted.
- Secure reservoir to motor/pump unit with a new clamp Electronic Parts Catalogue.
- Tighten bolt of clamp to specified tightening torque.
- Reconnect return line union to motor/pump unit.
- Fill reservoir to approx 1/4 full with hydraulic fluid and check for leaks at transition of reservoir to motor/pump unit.
- Tighten clamp if leaks are found.
- Drain reservoir.
- Mark an area of approx 15 x 30 mm with a permanent coloured mark (2) e.g. anti-tamper paint at the position as illustrated.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
