🧭 Before you start

Fits: VW Sharan I / SEAT Alhambra (7M)

  • Timing position: the crankshaft or camshaft is set and locked during this job

Don't miss

  • Mark direction of rotation of toothed belt.
  • Set camshaft pulley to TDC No. 1 cylinder by turning crankshaft. Marking on camshaft toothed belt pulley must align with mark on cylinder head cover.
  • If necessary, align ram before tensioning using long nose pliers or thin wire. (Hole in ram and hole in housing must align.)
  • When camshaft is turned, crankshaft must not be at TDC. Danger of damage to valves and piston crowns.
  • Align mark on camshaft toothed belt pulley with mark on cylinder head cover.

Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.

TorqueFastener / step
10 Nm (7.4 lb-ft)Install centre and lower toothed belt guard
25 Nm (18 lb-ft)Install vibration damper/belt pulley (can only be installed in one position
45 Nm (33 lb-ft)Fit engine bracket to cylinder block

ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
