Installation and checks
- Tensioner pulley:
- Fit the timing belt in a clockwise direction
- The tension is set at a deflection of:
- Tighten the tensioner pulley mounting bolt
- Right cylinder head:
- Turn the tensioner pulley clockwise until the pointer is positioned as shown
- Tighten the tensioner pulley mounting bolt
- Remove all the locking tools
- Hold the tensioner pulley in this position
- Tighten the tensioner pulley mounting bolt
- Right cylinder head:
- Use the special tool to check the camshaft timing
- Tensioner pulley:
- Turn the tensioner pulley anti-clockwise
- Until the camshaft gearwheel marks align with the marks on the special tool
- Tighten the tensioner pulley mounting bolt
- Remove the camshaft locking tool
- Left cylinder head:
- Use the special tool to check the camshaft timing
- Tensioner pulley:
- Turn the tensioner pulley anti-clockwise
- Until the camshaft gearwheel marks align with the marks on the special tool
- Tighten the tensioner pulley mounting bolt
- Remove the camshaft locking tool
- Tensioner pulley:
- Turn the tensioner pulley anti-clockwise to its stop
- Turn the tensioner pulley clockwise until the pointer is positioned as shown
- The tension is set if the marks are aligned
- Tighten the tensioner pulley mounting bolt

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
