Testing air conditioner compressor signal and compressor shut-off

The air conditioner compressor signal informs the engine control unit that the compressor will be switched on in 140 ms.

The engine control unit can send a signal via the same wire to shut off the air conditioner compressor.

The engine control unit will shut off the air conditioner compressor in the following cases:

For approx. 4 seconds during sharp acceleration from a low speed (registered via angle change on throttle valve potentiometer and road speed signal)
At full throttle in 1st gear for approx. 12 seconds
Defective throttle valve control part, engine speed of less than 1500 rpm
For approx. 6 seconds each time engine is started
For approx. 15 seconds during learning process for idling speed stabilisation

Requirements for test:

No faults stored in fault memory
Vehicle at room temperature
(above +15 °C)
Air conditioner okay

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
