  2. Insert 12 V socket U5(5) into front roof reinforcement, and secure it.
  3. Insert nuts (7) for canopy bracket into relevant mountings on front roof reinforcement (arrow), and fix them in position using adhesiveAMV 195 KD1 01. Screw additional bolts into nuts from rear. [Note: The bolts are used to locate the nuts (7) and will be removed after installing the front roof reinforcement. The nuts (7) must be installed under all circumstances, even if there is no canopy fitted in the vehicle. Not installing these nuts means making any canopy retrofitting at a future point impossible. When using a new convertible roof actuation hydraulic pump V118 or roof hydraulics control unit J768, cutting threads is not necessary. The securing bolts for these components are self-locking.When drilling holes in a new part, ensure that all dimensions correspond to those of the old part. If necessary, make drilling templates.] [Note: New seals are supplied in excess length and must therefore be shortened/cut to appropriate length depending on individual requirements.]
  4. Attach front seal (1) using assembly tool T50054(2) (seal is self-adhesive). When doing this, make sure the seal is attached straight.
  5. Seal nuts of canopy bracket with adhesive sealantD 511 500 A2(6) before inserting the side seal (3).
  6. Insert side seal (3) into front roof reinforcement. When doing this, attach seal at the positions indicated (arrows) using adhesiveAMV 195 KD1 01.
  7. Use glass/paint primerD 009 200 02 to prime bonding surfaces of press nuts (4), and allow primer to flash off for 10 minutes.
  8. Start press nuts (4) by means of bolt (5).
  9. Tighten bolt (5). When doing this, the press nut will be pressed into the front roof reinforcement.
  10. After press nuts have been pressed in, they must be bonded/fixed in place all round using 2-component polyurethane adhesiveD 180 KD2 A1.
  11. After the 2-component polyurethane adhesive has cured, unscrew bolt (5). [Note: Observe the flash-off period of the 2-pack adhesive.]
  12. Prime bonding groove of beading strips (1) and mounting edge (2) with glass/paint primerD 009 200 02, and allow primer to flash off for 10 min.
  13. Apply adhesive sealantD 511 500 A2 all round in a bead (4) next to mounting edge (2).
  14. Apply 2-component polyurethane adhesiveD 180 KD2 A1 in bonding groove of beading strips (1) using hand cartridge gunVAS 5155(3).
  15. Fit beading strips (1) onto mounting edge (2), and apply light blows with a plastic hammer to allow the beading strips to settle completely.
  16. At positions marked with (arrows), beading strips (1) are fixed in position by means of commercially available screw clamps.
  17. After installing beading strips (1), smooth the adhesive sealant bead (4) all round with an appropriate, commercially available smoothing tool. If necessary, apply more adhesive sealant. [Note: Before bonding, clean bonding surface of seal (1) with cleaning solutionD 009 401 04.New seals are supplied in excess length and must therefore be shortened/cut to appropriate length depending on individual requirements.Make sure that the seal (1) is aligned flush with the gutter grommets (3).On California Beach vehicles, openings for hydraulic lines in the gutter grommets (3) are sealed with plugs Electronic Parts Catalogue.]
  18. Insert gutter grommet (3) into front roof reinforcement on both sides.
  19. Use wooden rail (2) (14 mm) to ensure seal (1) is bonded evenly as per dimension (a).
  20. Firmly press on seal (1) using roller T10314.
  21. Attach additional protective film (self-adhesive, qty. 2)7H0.853.405(4) to front roof reinforcement making sure it is free of kinks. Cut the ends of the protective film so that they match the contour of the front roof reinforcement.
  22. The protective films may overlap in the middle. [Note: If the hydraulic cylinders have not yet been disconnected from the hydraulic lines (see chapter on the removal of front left and front right hinges for pop-up roof ), disconnect them now.The plastic bush (4) is bonded to hydraulic lines (2). The bonded joint determines the correct installation length of the hydraulic lines relative to the hydraulic cylinders. The bonded joint between the hydraulic lines (2) and the plastic bush (4) must not be separated, broken or damaged.During the entire procedure of converting the hydraulic components, it is essential to observe rules for cleanliness and to ensure that the hydraulic lines are not damaged when being installed (2).]
  23. Disconnect hydraulic lines (2) together with old gutter grommet (1) from old part.
  24. Remove old gutter (3) from old gutter grommet (1).
  25. Cut back old gutter grommet (1) until only plastic bush (4) remains.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
