🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi A8 D4 (4H, 2010–2017)

  • Opens: brake fluid
  • Renewed: if necessary

Don't miss

  • This closes the valves in the brake master cylinder and stops the brake fluid reservoir from running empty.Place a cloth under the connection to catch escaping brake fluid.
  • The brake pedal actuatorV.A.G 1869/2 must not be removed.
  • Risk of malfunctionDO NOT slacken off bolts (arrows A) on brake caliper.Tighten guide pins (arrows B) to 21 ... 26 Nm. — Clip bracket for electrical wire into new brake caliper.
  • Make sure the brake hose is routed correctly. The brake hose must not be kinked, crushed or twisted or chafe against parts of the vehicle at any point.
  • You should only bleed the brakes at the wheel where the caliper was detached and the brake line disconnected. If the brake pedal then still feels "“soft”", bleed the complete brake system Bleeding hydraulic system.

ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

📋 Procedure

  1. ⚠ Risk of malfunctionDO NOT slacken off bolts (arrows A) on brake caliper.Tighten guide pins (arrows B) to 21 ... 26 Nm. — Remove front wheel: observe precautions for vehicles with ceramic brakes Running gear, axles, steering44Wheels and tyres. — 26 Nm (19 lb-ft)
  2. Insert brake pedal actuatorV.A.G 1869/2 between brake pedal and driver's seat. Depress brake pedal at least 60 mm. [Note: This closes the valves in the brake master cylinder and stops the brake fluid reservoir from running empty.Place a cloth under the connection to catch escaping brake fluid.]
  3. Detach protective cap (3) from bleeder screw (1).
  4. Fit bleeder hose (2) of reservoir onto bleeder screw.
  5. ⚠ Brake fluid is poisonous and must NOT be drawn off by sucking through a hose.If brake fluid comes into contact with skin, rinse with plenty of water. If you get brake fluid in your eyes, rinse your eyes out and consult a doctor.General notes on brake fluid — Open bleeder screw to relieve pressure in hydraulic system.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
