Removing and installing wishbone and mounting bracket (right-side) - RS 3 — AUDI
Removing and installing wishbone and mounting bracket (right-side) - RS 3 on Audi: 22 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Taking out the right-hand wishbone and its mounting bracket on the RS 3 based on the Audi A3 (8P, 2003–2012) requires partly lowering the subframe. After the wheel, underbody noise insulation, any frame and diagonal struts, the exhaust bracket and heat shield are removed, the pendulum support is unbolted from the gearbox and the level sender rod is detached if fitted. The subframe is then supported on an engine and gearbox jack with a wooden block, its position fixed with locating pins T10096, and lowered only as far as needed while the steering rack dowel sleeves are levered out of the bracket. The important points are re-seating those dowel sleeves correctly and keeping the boot untwisted, then checking alignment and re-adapting magnetic ride if fitted.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the wheel, noise insulation, struts, exhaust bracket, heat shield and pendulum support, and detach the level sender rod. Undo the specified nuts and bolts, support the subframe on the jack with a wooden block, fix it with T10096 and lower it, levering the steering rack dowel sleeves out. Remove the wishbone from the bracket. After refitting, road test, check alignment if the steering wheel is off-centre, re-adapt magnetic ride if fitted and carry out the headlight basic setting.
Fits: Audi A3 (8P, 2003–2012)
- Special tools named: V.A.G 1383
Don't miss
- Fix the subframe position with locating pins T10096 before lowering it.
- Make sure the steering rack dowel sleeves seat properly in the suspension bracket.
- Check the sealing boot is neither damaged nor twisted.
- Re-adapt the reference position on cars with magnetic ride.
- Perform the headlight basic setting and check alignment as required.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
