Removing and installing telephone holder, telephone system in rear passenger compartment — AUDI

Removing and installing telephone holder, telephone system in rear passenger compartment on Audi: 8 steps.

The telephone holder for the rear passenger compartment, on the platform codes listed below, is mounted behind the right side trim between the D-pillar and C-pillar. With the ignition and electrical loads off and the key out, the phone and its retainer are taken off the bracket, then the side trim panel is removed after separating the aerial connection. The bracket itself is held by a securing bolt that is counterheld while the cover is slid upwards, plus a nut; once those are off, the wiring harness retainers are released and the harness threaded out through the trim. The part that is easy to skimp is the wiring: every cable tie, bonded part and piece of insulation goes back exactly where it was.

8 steps

🧭 Before you start

Switch everything off, remove the phone and retainer, and remove the right side trim between the D- and C-pillar, separating the aerial lead. Counterhold the securing bolt, slide the cover up, remove the nut and bolt, release the harness retainers and thread the harness out. Install in reverse, refitting all retainers, ties and insulation in their original places.

Fits: VW Transporter T5 (7H), VW Transporter T6 (7E), VW Transporter T6 (7F)

Don't miss

  • Switch off the ignition and all electrical loads and remove the key before starting.
  • Separate the aerial connection before pulling the side trim fully away.
  • Counterhold the securing bolt while sliding the cover upwards.
  • Refit cable ties, bonded parts and insulation of the same type in the same positions.
  • Missing wire retainers lead to rattles and chafed wires, so none are left off.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
