Removing and installing sliding door with electrical controls — AUDI

Removing and installing sliding door with electrical controls on Audi: 8 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

This is removal of a powered sliding door on the platform codes listed below. Unlike a manual door, the electric drive has to be deactivated first with the button in the dash panel, otherwise the door may move while you are working on it. With the door closed, the hinge fitting cover is unclipped from the door trim and the door arrester removed. The door is then unbolted from the electric drive, the roller bearings are pushed back in their guide rail and the lower roller guide is steered out of the lower rail. Finally the door is lowered at the front until the upper roller guide clears the upper rail. A sliding door is heavy and awkward, so have a second person hold it as the guides come free.

8 steps

🧭 Before you start

Deactivate the sliding door electrics at the dash button and close the door. Unclip the hinge cover, remove the door arrester and the bolts to the electric drive, slide the roller bearings back in the rail, guide the lower roller out of the lower rail and lower the front of the door until the upper roller guide leaves the upper rail.

Fits: platform codes SF, SG

Don't miss

  • Deactivate the electrical controls at the dash button before starting.
  • Remove the door arrester before unbolting the drive.
  • Guide the lower roller out first, then lower the door front to free the upper roller.
  • Support the door with a second person as the guides come free, as normal practice.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
