Removing and installing side airbag igniters N199 and N200, front (standard seats, seats with electric adjustment) - vehicles up to approx. 04.2007 — AUDI
Removing and installing side airbag igniters N199 and N200, front (standard seats, seats with electric adjustment) - vehicles up to approx.
Replacing a front side airbag in a standard or electrically adjusted seat on the Audi A6 C6 2004–2011 (4F), cars up to approx. 04.2007, is done with the seat out and on repair stand VAS 6136. After the battery earth strap is off, the backrest cover panel comes away, the fastening strips are prised out, the upholstery clips on the protective cover are cut, and the airbag connector is unplugged where fitted. The airbag is held by a bolt and a rivet, so the rivet is drilled out. Airbag safety rules govern every step; the essentials on refit are the earth wire lug between frame and module, a new bolt, correct cable routing, and an empty car when the battery is reconnected.
🧭 Before you start
Disconnect the battery, remove the seat and mount it on VAS 6136, remove the backrest cover panel and fold the cover forward. Cut the upholstery clips, unplug the connector, unscrew the bolt and drill out the rivet, then push the airbag up and out. Engage the new unit in the frame, rivet in the earth wire, secure it with a new bolt, route the cable through its guide, fit new upholstery clips and reconnect the battery with nobody inside.
Fits: Audi A6 C6 (4F, 2004–2011)
Don't miss
- Follow airbag and side airbag safety regulations from the moment the battery is disconnected.
- Position the earth wire lug between the backrest frame and the airbag before riveting.
- The airbag bolt is renewed, not reused.
- Nobody may be in the vehicle when the battery is reconnected.
- If warning lamp K75 shows a fault afterwards, interrogate the fault memory with the diagnostic tester.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
