- ⚠ The air conditioner will not function properly if control motors and/or the corresponding connectors are interchanged Overview of control motors of air conditioner. The control motors and connectors are identical. If these are incorrectly installed or connected, the corresponding flaps can no longer be properly matched and/or activated.Mark control motors and connectors clearly before detaching or removing to prevent incorrect installation. — Remove the following control motors.
- Remove bolts (B).
- Unfasten the wiring harness (H) from the holder (A).
- Remove bracket (A).
- Check that the actuating arms and connecting elements to the various flaps (A) to (E) are positioned correctly and function properly. [Note: On vehicles with right-hand drive, remove the gear wheel from bracket (A) and install bracket (A) again without the gear wheel. Then insert gear wheel (E), making sure it is positioned correctly in relation to gear wheel (F) (engage long and wide tooth on gear wheel (E) correctly in gear wheel (F)) Removing and installing retainers for left control motors (with a "Mix" or "High" air conditioner).]
- Install bracket (A).
- Tighten bolts (B).
- Insert the wiring harness (H) in the holder (A) such that it cannot come into contact with moving components.
- Check that actuators (C, D, E, F, G) are functioning correctly
- Re-install the control motors removed in reverse order.
- Lay the wiring to the various control motors such that it cannot come into contact with moving components.
- Perform basic setting and final control diagnosis for the air conditioner in "“Guided Fault Finding”" mode. [Note: The control motors on this vehicle are equipped with electronics. A new control motor only learns its position at the heater and air conditioning unit in the course of basic setting and can then be activated by the front air conditioner operating and display unit E87 (all control motors are identical at present) in "“Guided Fault Finding”" mode. While you are performing the basic setting, the control motors are assigned and adapted in accordance with the series connection of the wiring. If the sequence is not as specified, the control motors will not be adapted properly and the flaps will not be controlled correctly Overview of control motors of air conditioner.]

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
