Removing and installing refrigerant temperature sender G454 — AUDI

Removing and installing refrigerant temperature sender G454 on Audi: 9 steps, 1 torque figure. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what to.

Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.

9 steps 1 torque figure torque figures merged from 2 documented variants

🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi Q7 (4L, 2005–2015)

  • Opens: refrigerant (A/C)

Don't miss

  • When tightening the refrigerant temperature sender G454 only apply the wrench to the hexagon (not to the connector section).

🔩 Torque settings

Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.

ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

📋 Procedure

  1. ⚠ The connection for the refrigerant temperature sender G454 has no valve. The refrigerant is to be extracted from the refrigerant circuit before removing the refrigerant temperature sender G454. Renewed evaporation may create pressure in the refrigerant circuit if the refrigerant temperature sender G454 is not removed within 10 minutes following extraction. Extract refrigerant again. — Drain the refrigerant circuit Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87Refrigerant circuit (air conditioner with refrigerant R134a, refrigerant circuit, working with air conditioner service station).
  2. Remove noise insulation (not necessary e.g. on vehicles with 8-cyl. TDI engine) General body repairs, exterior66.
  3. Unplug the connector (A).
  4. Check the pressure in the refrigerant circuit by way of the pressure gauge of an air conditioner service station for example Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87Refrigerant circuit (air conditioner with refrigerant R134a, refrigerant circuit, working with air conditioner service station).
  5. ⚠ Only remove the refrigerant temperature sender G454 if the pressure in the refrigerant circuit is equal to or less than the atmospheric pressure. — Provide support with an open-ended wrench at the hexagon (D) of the refrigerant line and remove the refrigerant temperature sender G454(B) from the refrigerant line (of the compressor).

  1. Renew O-ring (C)Electronic parts catalogue.
  2. Moisten the O-ring (C) with a small quantity of refrigeration oil before fitting
  3. On installation, pay attention to correct positioning of the O-ring (C) in the groove of the refrigerant temperature sender G454(B).
  4. Provide support with an open-ended wrench at the hexagon (D) of the refrigerant line and tighten the refrigerant temperature sender G454(B) to 8 Nm. [Note: When tightening the refrigerant temperature sender G454 only apply the wrench to the hexagon (not to the connector section).] — 8 Nm (5.9 lb-ft)

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
