Removing and installing refrigerant lines for 2nd evaporator — AUDI
Removing and installing refrigerant lines for 2nd evaporator on Audi: 8 steps, 1 torque figure. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: VW Transporter T5 (7H), VW Transporter T5 (7J), VW Transporter T6 (7E), VW Transporter T6 (7F)
- Opens: refrigerant (A/C)
Don't miss
- The connection for the second evaporator has changed during the current series production. After this revision, the low-pressure connection is located under the air filter housing, on right in direction of travel.
🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 1.8 Nm (1.3 lb-ft) | ⚠ Danger of freezing injuries |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- Evacuate refrigerant circuit using e.g. air conditioner service stationVAS 6007A (or later model). Then - and only then - open refrigerant circuit.
- Comply with notes .
- ⚠ Danger of freezing injuries. If refrigerant circuit has not been evacuated, refrigerant may escape.Extract refrigerant before opening refrigerant circuit. If the refrigerant circuit is not opened within 10 minutes after it has been evacuated, pressure may develop in refrigerant circuit due to re-evaporation. Extract refrigerant again. — Unscrew bolts (1) (10 ± 1.8 Nm) and pull out refrigerant lines (2) from connection. — 1.8 Nm (1.3 lb-ft)
- Renew O-rings (3)Parts catalogue. [Note: The connection for the second evaporator has changed during the current series production. After this revision, the low-pressure connection is located under the air filter housing, on right in direction of travel.]
- Unscrew bolt (2) and pull refrigerant line (1) out of union.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
